Biil doo Beeldlee'

Biil doo Beeldlee’

( Woven dress & Manta)

Manta:  I used the double- faced weaving technique to show both the natural black and hand dyed indigo colors.  The technique allows decorative patterns to appear on both sides of the weaving.

Dress:  This biil is an old style dress worn by Navajo women. Today they are only worn during special occasions.

Permanent collection of the National Museum of the American Indian
